Summer 2010 introduced me to the most amazing brides, fun new textures and new found appreciation for the classic.

Lovely winter weddings

I have writers block.  I'm eating a brownie in hopes that it will help.  I've heard chocolate helps.  At least I think I did.  Writer's block sucks.  Not gonna lie.  Writing has always been sort of a creative outlet for me.   Yes.  Professional designers need creative outlets too.  I had a friend ask me once if I ever experienced 'designer's block'.  I had to think about that.  Have I?  Nope. I can honestly say in 11 years as a designer, I've never experienced designer's block.  I think it's because I have so many amazingly beautiful things around me that continue to inspire me.  Wow! Utah is a beautiful place.  Wow! I work with such amazingly beautiful brides.  My brides have such fantastic visions of how they want to see the space.  It's so fun to collaborate through the planning process, fine tune the designs and watch as the final designs comes together.
The images from Allyson's and Kyle's weddings really captured the romantic candlelit winter wedding we were after.  Allyson was such an amazing talent to work with and design for.  She really wanted a gorgeous country style wedding and I think this one was over-the-top-beautiful.  After months of phone calls, emailing images, mock ups and a LOTS of fine tuning, the result was stunning.
We had a killer team working on this wedding.  With myself and quite possibly the world's greatest design assistant and right hand, Dayna on top of the florals, candles and design details with Allyson, we had Alpine Event Rentals providing beautiful bistro lights, unique lanterns and the always essential chivari chairs.  The coordination of the event was meticulously handled by my personal fave Kristin Spear and the Soiree Productions team.  The AMAZING images were captured by Sarah at Lindsay Jane Photography and the festivities took place at spectacular Sundance Resort.  This wedding was truly special and every detail was thoughtful and meaningful.

A few images from a GORGEOUS wedding I designed for Brooke and Steven at the St. Regis.  These images were captured by the talented Ryan Christensen of Innovative Photography and featured on Utah Bride Blog.  Brooke had an amazing vision and I was super excited to be a part of it.  Brooke made me laugh from the all important initial phone call where 'bride meets florist'.  After many texts, phone calls, mock up and meetings our hard work paid off with what I like to say is a nod to the era of Jane Austen.  Romantic.  Rich. Playful.  These were all words we kept in mind during the design process.  Vintage skeleton keys, old school card catalogue, antique books, typewriters and cameras and custom floral table chandeliers gave this outdoor reception an authentic and unexpected youthful vibe.   Highly textured bouquets of imported dahlias, ranunculus and hydrangea  with highlights of interesting accents of mossy branches and pods and feathers the result was a gorgeous wedding for a gorgeous bride.

Yes, I know it's September

Ok, so I know it's September.  And in March, I solemnly swore I would blog weekly.  Or at least bi-monthly.  And then wedding season began and it's been a whirl-wind of debating shades of coral vs salmon, finding the perfect silk for bouquet binding, searching for stripes, hunting for vintage glass, scouring the valley for barnwood.  The result?  GORGEOUS weddings, elated brides and a very neglected blog.   Sooooo on this quiet, not quite fall day,  I'll be doing a little back-tracking, posting some of my favorite events from the spring and summer...or  as I like to say, Sprummer

I had the pleasure of collaborating with the fabulous Soiree Productions for this wedding in early April.  When Kristin called me and asked me to channel my, 'it's cold but I'm ready for Spring' vibe I was happy to oblige.   With Kristin's amazing taste, the bride and groom's easy going personality and my attention to detail (nice way of saying I'm overly picky), the result was stunning.  Working with lots of candle light, bright apple greens, soft creamy ivories, spring bulbs, natural wood and custom iron chandeliers This wedding had sparkle and life.  And convinced me to put my boots away.

So the St. Regis.  WOW!  I have to tell you, I feel kind of famous when I set up an event there.  I flounce around in my armani sunglasses and uncomfortable yet fabulous shoes.  And then I remember that I am the hired help and I still have dozens of boxes to unload.  Who cares!  I still love it!  It GORGEOUS there!  This was such a fun wedding to design.  My pictures don't do this wedding justice.  Wait til you see Pepper's shots, AMAZING!!  I'll post those soon.

Rustic BBQ's need love too!  This was fun.  The beautiful Mount Timpanogas was my back drop and rustic was my theme so we brought lots of fat sunflowers and yummy artichokes and paired them with hand thrown clay pots and barnwood boxes and kerosene lanterns.    Not too fussy, not too plain. 

I love my brides.  I really do.  All of them.  But Jenn was the funniest, kindest bride I can remember in a long long time.   Like many of my brides, Jenn lived out of state and was planning her entire wedding via phone calls and emails.  After the first phone call, I think we began reading each other's mind.  She sent me a photo of her stunning Carolina Herrera gown (tea length, champagne silk with chocolate sash for those who are as obsessed with C.H. as I am) and our design took place from there.   Here's my favorite shot of her bouquet.  Jenn, you were truly STUNNING!
